Jablonski Returns Home, Albeit Briefly

Though he's still in rehab at the Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis—likely through mid-April—Jack Jablonski was able to return home briefly earlier this month.

The sophomore hockey player, who sustained a serious spinal cord injury during a game on Dec. 30, used a day off from rehab on Sunday, March 18, to go home for a family BBQ, according to his CaringBridge page. It was Jablonski's first trip home since the day of his injury.

His mother, Leslie Jablonski, reports that it was a fun day:

He was craving hotdogs on the grill which turned into a great excuse to host a spur-of-the-moment BBQ on the patio. Within an hour we fired up the grill and a handful of friends joined us as we welcomed our boy home.

However, Jablonski's recovery does have downs to go with the ups:

Not every day has been a bed of roses. Although last week started out great, it slid downhill rather abruptly. We're happy to report that Jack is on the mend, but after a dismal weekend, we couldn't help but to feel some sense of despair. He dealt with a bout of nausea, vomiting, and restlessness for several days and even spiked a temperature of over 104 on Saturday night. Jack is being treated for a UTI and things are finally turning around.
