Jerry Has a New Place

Jerry's Hardware & Rental moved to Louisiana Avenue last month.

It's been about a month since Jerry moved across town.

, which was formerly located in the , opened at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Louisiana Avenue on Feb. 16.

“Customers and employees are still learning where things are," he said.

Brown said Jerry's couldn't come to terms on a new lease with Miracle Mile management, which prompted the move. The old store closed on Dec. 5, and the next few months were spent setting up the new location.

Though the Louisiana Avenue locale isn't any larger than the Miracle Mile spot—Brown said there is actually a little bit less shelf space than before—the new Jerry's has been able to open a full-service garage for equipment with small motors, like lawnmowers and snow blowers.

Plus, Brown said, being located at a busy intersection is nice.

“We’re still having a lot of people coming in saying they’re happy we’re here," he said.

Meanwhile, the old Jerry's location, which is currently vacant, figures to become a hardware store again soon. Denise Nichols, the Miracle Mile office manager, said a lease is being worked on with Frattalone's Hardware.

Nichols said she was unsure when a lease might be finalized and when the new hardware store might open.

Brown said the Miracle Mile has had one hardware store or another since it opened in 1951. Jerry's had been there for about a decade, he said.
