Trader Joe's Expands Peanut Butter Recall

Trader Joe's has expanded its recall of nut butter products due to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened 30 people in 19 states, including a Twin Cities adult.

The grocery store's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds, Crunchy and Salted, and Almond Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds, Crunchy and Salted, have both been recalled. Over the weekend, Trader Joe’s Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter was the first product to be recalled.

NBC News reports that 30 people in 19 states contracted salmonella between June 11 and Sept. 2 due to the Trader Joe's products, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

An adult Twin Cities resident was among those sickened by the peanut butter, according to a Minnesota Department of Health press release. The MDH did not further identify the person, and said he or she was hospitalized and recovered.

There is one Trader Joe's location in St. Louis Park, in the Excelsior and Grand area.
