18 Artists' Works Recognized At NH Virtual Craftsmen’s Fair​

CONCORD, NH — The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted events by the thousands this year, and New Hampshire's Craftsmen's Fair is no exception.

The event, happening now, runs through Sunday. Now, it's the public's turn to participate; winning pieces and thousands of other pieces are for sale.

Works from more than 140 artists, along with live demonstrations, musical performances and an exhibition tour, are live on the Craftsmen's Fair website. The League of NH Craftsmen's executive director, Miriam Carter, said the fair offers something of interest for everyone.

"Each year our craftsmen raise the bar with their creativity and innovation," Carter said in a statement. "There is truly something in this Exhibition for everyone to love and I am extremely proud that this year’s virtual fair included this showcase of incredible art.""

This year, 18 artists won 2020 Art, Craft and Design Exhibition Awards:

• Innovation Award — Diane Louise Paul, "School of Happy Mr. Fish's"
• Best in Wood Furniture — Peter Maynard, "New World Server Console"
• Best in Wood Turning — Claude Dupuis, "Blue Horizon"
• Best in Basketry — Sharon Dugan, "Paris"
• Robbins-Waters-Libby Print Award — J. Ann Eldridge's "Lichens on Spruce"
• Elanor "Tin" Bacon Award for Metal Jewelry — Tom McGurrin, "Windows 1.0"
• Best in Precious Jewelry — Orin Pacht, "Tree of Life"
• Best in Wearable Fiber — Kate Kilgus, "Handwoven Alpaca and Silk Wrap"
• Joe Tucker Metal Award — Paulette Werger, "Appetizer Set 2020"
• Stevens Glass Award— Jocelyn Brown, "Raven Trio"
• Best in Weaving — Erica Pfister, "Krokbragd Rug #1"
• Best in Sculptural Ceramics — Wendy Jackson, "Shifting Through Trees #55"
• Best in Functional Ceramics — Naomi Lindenfeld, "New Growth"

• Best in Mixed Media — Kathleen Dustin, "Alone Together"

The League of Craftsmen is also accepting donations to help support artists during the pandemic. The organization asks for a $15 donation — the cost of a fair ticket — from visitors who check out the fair online.
