BMW SUV Crashes Into Pole, Fence, Backyard In East Concord: Watch

Concord police, fire and rescue teams were sent to Shawmut Street and Mountain Road near the Exit 16 roundabout for an accident on Sunday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams as well as police were sent to a crash on Sunday in East Concord.

Around 8:30 p.m., dispatch received a call about a vehicle crashing into a utility pole on Shawmut Street. When the first EMTs arrived, they found the broken pole but no vehicle. Unitil was notified about the pole, according to dispatch.

A few minutes later, a BMW SUV was found — it had crashed through a nearby fence, drove down a small embankment, and stopped in the backyard of home not far from the pole. The home was later identified to be on Mountain Road.

A woman in her 20s from Salisbury with a Kansas license was evaluated by EMTs and questioned by police.

"I'm just finishing up my inventory of her vehicle here," one officer said. "You can add a charge of open container."

Around 9:15 p.m., firefighters went back into service after the driver refused to be taken to the hospital.

When Unitil arrived, they estimated it was going to take six hours to fix the pole, according to scanner chatter.
