Box Alarm, Smoke Reported Inside The Hotel Concord: Watch

Firefighters were sent to South Main Street for a call after an HVAC unit caused a smoke condition inside a room at the hotel on Monday.

CONCORD, NH — A box alarm downtown due to a smoke condition caused the evacuation of a hotel in Concord on Monday.

Just after 11:30 p.m., Concord firefighters were sent to The Hotel Concord on South Main Street for an alarm activation and a report of smoke on the fourth floor. At least one guest reported smoke coming from a room they thought was vacant, according to dispatch. Guests were evacuated from the hotel during the process of firefighters getting to the scene.

When they arrived, the fire command reported seeing “nothing obvious” at the building and reported evacuation was progressing.

A short time after arriving, firefighters were able to get to the fourth floor but needed key access to the room. After not being able to get keys, firefighters forced the door of open to one of the rooms after reporting smoke coming from inside.

Around midnight, an employee was reached and firefighters requested a maintenance employee to assist with what appeared to be a problem with an HVAC unit inside one of the fourth-floor hotel rooms. Firefighters also began clearing smoke from the fifth floor.

Firefighters found no other issues at the hotel during the call.
