Campus Of NHTI, Concord?s Community College, Placed On Lockdown After Gunshots Heard At Day Care Center

CONCORD, NH ? NHTI, Concord?s community college, was on lockdown on Friday morning after staffers and others heard several gunshots from different locations on the campus.

Just after 11:30 a.m., New Hampshire State Police dispatch reported receiving a call from the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center about gunshots on the campus. The caller told dispatch they heard multiple gunshots and children who were playing outside were all brought back into the facility.

Several state police troopers headed to the area to investigate.

Just after the call came in, staffers at the academy, who also heard the gunshots, suggested checking the northbound side of Interstate 93, just before Exit 16 breakdown lane. The caller said it sounded like the shots came from that area.

Troopers then began searching Interstate 93 and Interstate 393.

After speaking with staffers at the academy, state police learned there were two vehicles in the breakdown lane at the time the gunshots were heard, according to scanner chatter.

State police deployed a K-9 unit and troopers and began searching the area along I-93 north for shell casings or other evidence.

The campus was taken off lockdown around noon.

Just before 12:30 p.m., troopers cleared the search scene and reported that nothing was found.
