City GOP Leader Injured During Concord Heights House Fire
Former state representative candidate Andrew Georgevits suffered second-degree burns during a fire on Northeast Village Road on April 10.
CONCORD, NH — A city Republican leader was burned during a fire on the Concord Heights recently but is doing OK.
Around 8:30 p.m. on April 10, Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to Canterbury Meadows on Northeast Village Road for a report of smoke in a building. When they arrived, they found fire in the kitchen home that was mostly extinguished by the homeowner, Andrew Georgevits, using a portable fire extinguisher.
"Personnel quickly went to work to extinguish the remaining fire and evaluate the occupants of the home," said Sean Brown, the chief of the Concord Fire Department. "The home suffered significant heat damage on the first floor and smoke damage throughout."

Georgevits was taken to Concord Hospital with second-degree burns on one of his hands as well as a dog bite wound on the other hand and significant smoke inhalation. He was treated overnight. His wife and son were able to escape the fire quickly and were not injured.
Just before the city Republican meeting last week, Ken Georgevits informed members about the fire.

"Right now," he said, "to put it in military terms, we are at condition 'stable.' You all know Andrew and he is strong and recovering well."
The house is currently unlivable and will be for the next few months.
Andrew Georgevits said on Friday he was thankful to have only been burned his hand and that his wife and son were able to get out without any issues. He also thanked firefighters for helping with the fire.
When asked if the family needed anything, Ken Georgevits said, just prayers so that his son could heal and the family can rebuild.
Andrew Georgevits has previously run for state representative in the city and has been a leader of the Concord NH GOP city committee for a number of years.
