Concord Community Center Enters Into Last Month of Construction

Work on the new citywide multi-generational community center​ in Concord should be "substantially completed" by the end of the month.

CONCORD, N.H. - Work on the new citywide multi-generational community center in Concord should be "substantially completed" by the end of the month according to city officials.

This week, officials showed off progress pictures in the City Newsletter and said crews are finishing up work including exterior siding, mechanical screens, as well as grading, landscaping, and utility connections.

According to officials, much of the interior work in the 1960s wing is nearly complete and the contractor is focusing its efforts to complete the new addition.

"Ongoing interior work includes installation of flooring, drop ceilings, cabinetry and mill work, as well as signage, security systems, and gymnasium equipment," the newsletter reads.

The new community center at the site of the former Dame School located at 14 Canterbury Road is set to feature:

  • 5 multi-purpose programming rooms, one of which will be used for part-time public library services
  • 2 rooms for exercise, dance and aerobics
  • Dedicated space for senior citizen programming
  • a large multipurpose room featuring a stage and catering kitchen for functions and performances
  • 8,000 square foot,multi purpose size gymnasium (2 basketball courts,pickleball courts, volleyball court and much more)
  • Locker rooms
  • Parks and Recreation Department administrative offices
