CONCORD, NH — A Concord man is facing felony charges after a fight, an accusation of a car driving into people, and a shooting in Manchester on Wednesday, according to police.

Around 12:45 a.m., officers were sent to Canal Street for a report of shots fired. When police arrived, they spoke to witnesses in an apartment building at the corner of Canal and Mechanic streets who stated a man drove up to the address and said he had been shot multiple times.

"The injured man was taken to Elliot Hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds," Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the Manchester Police Department, said.

The man was later identified as Curtis Massey, 23, of Concord, she said.

Police learned later that the shooting occurred a few blocks away on North Commercial Street outside one of the mill buildings.

"Several spent shell casings were located in the area as well a car bumper," Hamel said. "It was learned that prior to the shooting, there had been a fight involving several people in the parking lot."

Witnesses stated a car drove through the group of people, hitting at least three, and then, shots were fired, Hamel said. Police accused Massey of using his car as a weapon to "strike people" and he was charged with three counts of reckless conduct, she said.

There was no mention of any other charges against anyone else. Hamel, in a phone call, confirmed there was an ongoing investigation by police into the fight in the parking lot and shooting aspects of the incident.

Massey is a felon due to being convicted on two armed robbery charges as well as burglary and resisting arrest in June 2015 after incidents in Manchester in December 2014, according to superior court records. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison with 195 days credit of time served.

Massey was arrested again in August 2020 on second-degree assault-deadly weapon and simple assault charges after an incident in Manchester. He was indicted on the charges in February and the case is still active in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.
