Concord School District Sets Last Day Of School
SAU 8 School Notes: Grad info coming soon; new middle school project meetings held in June; want to become a bus driver or crossing guard?
CONCORD, NH — The last day of school is coming soon — it will be on Friday, June 18.
The Concord Board of Education recently approved the final day of school and it reflects two makeup days — one for weather and one when many teachers and staff had a bad reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine in March, according to Kathleen Murphy, the SAU 8 school superintendent.

Learn About Potential New Middle School
The district is studying the feasibility of building a new middle school.
Two meetings will be held in June allowing parents and residents to tour the Rundlett Middle School and view a presentation by HMFH Architects. The tours and presentations will be held at 6 p.m. on June 8 and 9 a.m. on June 12.
Plans include a possible partnership with the Concord YMCA and expanding from sixth- to eighth-grade to also include fifth-graders, to make more room at the elementary schools, due to some of them not having adequate space for full-day kindergarten, which was approved in 2018 after first being scrapped the year before.
While a number of plans have been floated over the years, the public was promised years ago that no new major projects would be considered until after the $90.8 million elementary school consolidation project was paid off. That does not happen until 2041. The district has about another $40 million leftover principal on the bonds.
SRO Task Force
SAU 8 is creating a task force to study school discipline and programs that support positive behavior and will also study the role of the school resource officer at Concord High School.
The task force is expected to study the issue and present its findings to the board before the 2022-2023 school budget sessions begin.
Anyone interested in participating in the task force is asked to send a letter of interest to Murphy at kmurphy@sau8.org.
Transportation Openings
The district also has job openings in the transportation department that need to be filled including school bus monitors, drivers, and crossing guards.
Anyone interested in working in these roles should contact Terry Crotty at 603-225-0849.
