Concord Woman Died Due To Strangulation: Report
Autopsy: Marlene Couture died due to "ligature strangulation." Her husband, Philip Couture, is accused of murder; to be arraigned Tuesday.

CONCORD, NH — The state's chief medical examiner has ruled the death of a South End woman on Friday to be a homicide due to strangulation.
Marlene Couture, 78, was killed inside her South Spring Street home on Friday. Jennie Duval, the chief medical examiner for the state, ruled the killing a homicide by way of "ligature strangulation," or due to a binding object being involved in the choking process. While not officially confirmed, police said Marlene Couture had a belt around her neck when she was found by officers in a bedroom inside the home and later ruled dead by EMTs, according to dispatch.
Philip Couture, 77, faces two counts of second-degree murder and a single count of second-degree assault. He was scheduled for arraignment in Merrimack County Superior Court at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and is being held without bail.
