GoFundMe Site Setup For Concord Teacher Who Died

CONCORD, NH — Friends of a Concord teacher are attempting to raise $10,000 to help her family offset the cost of a memorial service.

Martha Tillotson Schofield started a GoFundMe.com fundraiser to help the family of Rachel Berger Montgomery of Concord, a teacher of English at Pembroke Academy, who died in her sleep on April 7. She was 52.

Montgomery left a husband, Craig, and a daughter, Angel, behind, and now Schofield and others are helping to raise money.

"If you had the pleasure of meeting Rachel, you were one of the lucky ones," she said. "She was such an amazing mom to her daughter, an awesome wife to her husband, and the best friend ever."

Montgomery, she said, had a great sense of humor and an affection for all animals. She was also beloved by her students.

"She made it easy to love her and was a beautiful soul taken from us far too soon," she said.

At post time, more than $5,800 of the $10,000 goal had been raised.
