Hampton Man Charged With Attempted Burglary

HAMPTON, NH — A Hampton man faces charges after an incident Sunday on Ocean Boulevard. At just after 11:45 p.m., officers were sent to the boulevard near Anchor Street for a report of someone breaking into a single-family home. Officers were able to quickly identify the suspect as Justin Knowles, 41, of Hampton, according to Deputy Police Chief David Hobbs.

"Police allege that Knowles did commit the crime of burglary for entering an occupied structure with the intent to commit a theft," Hobbs said, "as well as falsifying physical evidence for concealing evidence utilized during the commission of the burglary."

Knowles was arrested on March 1, processed, and released on personal recognizance bail. He's due in Rockingham County Superior Court March 12.

Hobbs said residents who suspect suspicious activity should report it by either calling police at 603-929-1222 or through Crimeline for the Hamptons at 603-929-4444.
