Homeless Org Seeks Talent Show Fundraiser Performers

The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness will be holding its second talent show fundraiser on May 1 — but it needs contestants first.

CONCORD, NH — The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness will be hosting its second talent show fundraiser in a few months but it needs some contestants.

Originally shuttered due to the coronavirus pandemic, the org working to put together an intimate, live show, of sorts, at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage on May 1. The org hopes to raise $30,000.

But first, it needs talented people who are ready to perform.

The event in 2019 featured poets, musicians, and others and, according to Greg Lessard, who is leading the talent show committee, there is no shortage of performers in the city.

"The quality of the talent in the Concord area is simply off-the-charts," he said. "And, the community just responded so well to our inaugural event in October 2019 — over 50 local businesses sponsored the Talent Show. There was an outpouring of community feedback after the show that it was a never-to-be-missed event."

For 2021, auditions will be held at Area 23 and Litherman's Limited Brewery on April 17 and April 18, outside of both establishments, per COVID-19 protocols. From there, six performers will advance.

To apply to perform, fill out an application here. The deadline is April 1.

Only 100 people will be allowed to attend the event live, in order to ensure safety during the coronavirus pandemic. However, the event will be live-streamed online on YouTube, Facebook, and Concord TV.

During the event, votes for best act will be sold, to assist in raising money for the organization. For attendees, as part of the ticket price, both the Concord Food Co-Op and O Steaks and Seafood will be providing food.
