Let's Talk

Anyone who has read one of my Patch blogs in the past 26 months, knows that I love to share memories of our city as well as express thoughts about ongoing issues and matters within the Community.

Recently I began a radio show on WKXL, Concord's own station for the past 65 plus year.

The program entitled "Downtown Dialogues" is a weekly 45 minute opportunity to find out what's happening in the area as well as being an opportunity to meet some of the people that make Concord so unique.

Some may be newsmakers while others may be lesser known but just as valuable and important in contributing ideas, feelings and energy.

This week's guest is one of those fixtures n Concord - a man  w has seemingly done it all.

Jim MacKay has been a City Councilor, two-term Mayor of Concord, is in his 7th term in the House of Representatives and has given thousands of hours to non-profit Boards and served on virtually every committee for every meaningful cause.

In addition, over the course of many decades, Jim, as an esteemed psychotherapist, has helped thousands of individuals work through problems and issues and find themselves in the process.

In the weeks and months ahead I hope to share space with an interesting cross-section of Concord.

Michael Herrmann, the owner of Gibsons will be coming on as will Barry Steelman, Concord's beloved "Movie Man". Peggo Horstman Hodes, a gifted musician and teacher at the Music School will be visiting as will Carol Bagan, a behind the scenes community leader who, among other accomplishments, held to save our City Auditorium.

I also want to hear the voices of those who are passionate about the changes in our community and plan to invite Allan Herschlag and Jessica Fogg, to talk about their views on Concord.

The show airs on Tuesday afternoon from 3 -4 and is repeated on Sunday afternoon at the same time, on WKXL - 1450 AM.

Please give it a listen and let me know who you'd like to hear from.

For now, check out my chat with Jim MacKay, a man who is so indicative of what makes the people of Concord so special.
