Loudon Stolen Car Report Leads To Chase, Arrest Of Concord Felon
Shawn Sullivan was arrested on drunken driving, habitual offender, other charges after deployment of stop sticks during a multi-town chase.

ALLENSTOWN, NH — A Concord felon was arrested on several charges on Friday after he was accused of fleeing from police attempting to make a stolen vehicle stop, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Around 10 p.m., state police were notified about a stolen vehicle out of Concord that had been spotted in Loudon. Police there accused the driver of fleeing from an officer. A trooper located the vehicle on Route 28 south after leaving Bear Hill Road, according to Capt. Chad Lavoie of Troop D. The vehicle also failed to stop for state police, he noted.
At one point during the chase, the suspect, Shawn Sullivan, 37, exited the vehicle but then, returned to it. Sullivan, one officer stated, continued to drive toward Chichester — with sparks coming from the bottom of the vehicle, according to dispatch. More officers converged to the area attempting to stop the vehicle as it drove on Route 28 through Chichester and Epsom.

During the chase, just before Thompson Road in Pembroke, an officer accused Sullivan of throwing what looked like a handgun out of the window of the vehicle, according to scanner chatter.
At the Pembroke-Allenstown town line, Merrimack County Sheriffs laid spike strips and Sullivan drove into them but was accused of continuing to drive.

“One tire is flat but he is starting to fishtail,” an officer stated.
The vehicle then crashed in the area between River Road and Presidential Drive.
Officers approached the vehicle and found Sullivan inside. One officer told dispatch he had turned up the music and was just sitting inside the vehicle, according to scanner chatter. When ordered to exit, Sullivan was accused of refusing and being uncooperative. Officers surrounded the vehicle and reported Sullivan was writing something down on a piece of paper. Later, he exited the vehicle, with his hands up, a state trooper told dispatch.
Sullivan was taken into custody by police and was accused of being impaired on “some sort of drug,” Lavoie said, so he was taken to Concord Hospital. After being medically discharged, Sullivan refused bail and was taken straight to the Merrimack County Jail. Some of the charges included aggravated driving under the influence, felony operating while a habitual offender, reckless driving, and disobeying an officer, according to Lavoie. Sullivan also had an active warrant from the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in superior court at the arraignment on felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and controlled drug: acts prohibited charges.
Sullivan, according to superior court records, is a felon due to past drug convictions dating back to 2015. The felon in possession and drug possession charges were from April out of Concord. On June 15, according to a Merrimack County Superior Court filing, a motion was made to revoke Sullivan's bail. He then failed to appear at his arraignment on Thursday and an arrest warrant was then issued, according to court records.
Sullivan was also arrested on May 30 in Concord on assault, loitering or prowling, and resisting arrest at the Storrs Street Garage. During that interaction, police tased Sullivan when he refused to show his hands. He has also been previously accused of second-degree assault in Concord in 2011.
Lavoie thanked law enforcement officers from Allenstown, Canterbury, Chichester, Concord, Epsom, Pembroke, and Pittsfield, as well as Merrimack County Sheriffs for “aiding to stop this dangerous driver and keeping the citizens of New Hampshire safe.”
