Manchester Man Pleads Guilty to Fentanyl Trafficking

A Manchester man today plead guilty to fentanyl trafficking in U.S. District Court​ in Concord.

CONCORD, N.H. - A Manchester man today plead guilty to fentanyl trafficking in U.S. District Court in Concord.

According to a release from United States Attorney Scott W. Murray, William Looney, 55, of Manchester, pleaded guilty in federal court to a fentanyl trafficking charge from last year.

According to court documents, Manchester Police were tipped off that Looney was driving from New Hampshire to Massachusetts to purchase large quantities of drugs in July of 2017. On July 28, 2017, officers saw Looney make the drive from Manchster to Mass and stopped his vehicle when he returned to New Hampshire.

Inside his car, police found a package containing approximately 285 grams of fentanyl.

Looney pleaded guilty to one count of possession of 40 grams or more of fentanyl with intent to distribute. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 30.

“Fentanyl is a deadly drug that is threatening the safety of our community,” said U.S. Attorney Murray. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office continues to work closely with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute those who are distributing this dangerous substance in New Hampshire. I am grateful to the law enforcement officers who successfully prevented this significant amount of fentanyl from being distributed in the Granite State.”
