Merrimack Home Depot Honored For Disability Hires
Employees, store managers say, help sustain a positive and welcoming culture at the store.
CONCORD, NH – A local business was heralded with an employment award on Oct. 10, 2018, for hiring and retaining employees with disabilities. The Home Depot in Merrimack was honored at the award ceremony for treating employees with respect and offering whatever they needed to succeed. In turn, the employees have worked hard with other employees and to please customers.
“The two young men interviewed independently with Home Depot Management and were hired initially in a seasonal capacity to water, deadhead, and assist in maintaining the garden center,” it was noted at the event. “After the season was over both young men were asked to stay on board as permanent employees. As a result of the positive and welcoming culture of The Home Depot of Merrimack, these young men walk through the store with pride, greeting customers, and being greeted by their fellow employees.”
The store is one of about 500 employers in the state that has hired more than 610 employees with disabilities in fiscal year 2018.
