Mid-April Snow In New Hampshire? Forecasters Say, It's Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for central and northern New Hampshire warning of sticky snow and wind.

GRAY, ME — A "hazardous weather outlook" was issued by the National Weather Service for New Hampshire on Wednesday warning of stormy weather — rain on Thursday converting to "sticky, wet snowfall" on Friday, with wind gusts, too.

"The heaviest accumulations will be in the hills and mountains, however, accumulations are also possible at lower elevations," the alert stated. "Snow will stick most efficiently to trees and elevated surfaces, potentially leading to snapped limbs and power outages in areas that see significant accumulation."

Wind gusts of up to 20 miles per hour are possible. The storm is scheduled to end on Saturday morning.

The NWS posted on Facebook on Tuesday that its partners at the Weather Prediction Center said there was great potential for 2 inches of snow on Thursday night in Vermont and Western New Hampshire.

"It's still too early to try to pin down amounts, but this highlights where the greatest potential is for accumulation," the post stated.
