CONCORD, NH — This week's New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week was arrested Friday in Maine, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Hunter Edward Eaton, 21, was wanted on multiple warrants in the Granite State including a Strafford County arrest warrant for failing to appear on charges involving the theft of multiple firearms, a Rockingham County warrant for bail violations on an ongoing burglary case, and warrants issued by the Rochester and Somersworth police departments, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal.

It was unknown where Eaton was although he had ties to both New Hampshire and Maine.

Police in Saco, Maine, were called to a store on Main Street for a report of juveniles drinking. One provided the name of "Hunter Fagan" — an alias used by Eaton in the past, according to White. Later, officers were able to positively identify him and he was arrested.

Eaton was booked into the York County Jail as a fugitive from justice and will be returned to New Hampshire to deal with the outstanding cases.

"The Fugitive of the Week program is far-reaching, and we are happy that many officers in the New England area actively seek out and arrest these fugitives on a very regular basis," U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. "We are very thankful to the officers of the Saco Police Department for doing an excellent investigation and safely taking Mr. Eaton into custody."

According to superior court records, Eaton was accused of burglary and theft of a firearm in Nottingham in September 2020. He was also accused of burglary and possession of burglary tools in Rochester in November 2020. The charges are all felonies. He was arraigned and held after a bail hearing on the Nottingham charges on Dec. 10, 2020. Eaton's bail was posted later but a mail notice to him about the case was returned to the Rockingham County Superior Court on Dec. 28, 2020. Eaton was indicted in April on the Nottingham burglary and theft charges but two notices by mail from the court were returned. Eaton was accused of failure to appear at an arraignment on May 21, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
