CONCORD, NH — A man from the Lakes Region who was wanted on child rape charges and was this week's New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week has surrendered to police.

Information about Jeramy M. Hodges, 47, was published on Wednesday. He was wanted on two aggravated felonious sexual assault on a child between the ages of 13 and 16 years of age charges out of Laconia. Police in Laconia, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, "had previously attempted to have Mr. Hodges turn himself in without success." When Hodges initially refused to surrender, police contacted the task force, White said, asking for assistance.

On Wednesday, marshals received "several tips" about possible locations where Hodges might be. Task force members began researching the tip locations. But on Wednesday night, Laconia police let marshals know that Hodges had surrendered to police. He was booked into the Belknap County Jail, where he will be held without bail pending his arraignment on Thursday in Belknap County Superior Court.

"Law enforcement takes allegations of sexual assault on a child very seriously and the task force will always put these warrants at the top of the priority list," U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. "Fortunately, Mr. Hodge understood the seriousness of these allegations and made the smart decision to surrender to allow the criminal justice process to begin."

Hodges' criminal history dates back to the mid-1990s when he was arrested for receiving stolen property in Tilton, criminal mischief in Laconia, and burglary in Gilford, Loudon, and Pittsfield, according to superior court records. After pleading guilty to charges, he was sent to prison. But later, in 1999, he was accused by the state of violation of probation. Along with the charges mentioned by White, Hodges was arrested by New Hampshire State Police in July 2020, on a driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent charge while on Interstate 93 in Londonderry.
