Corrections Commissioner Helen Hanks provided the keynote address during the ceremony and reminded everyone that correctional employees are “more than just security,” that “we are the agents that motivate people to address long standing substance use issues, domestic violence behavior, advancing their parenting skills, and many more areas at the route of the reason people end up under our custody or supervision.”
