NH Gives 24-Hour Online Fundraising Effort Is Underway

Hundreds of New Hampshire nonprofits and charities are vying to access more than $1 million in matching gifts during the next 24-hours.

CONCORD, NH — The NH Gives 24-hour online giving challenge is underway.

The New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits is encouraging Granite Staters to make a donation through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, to access more than $1 million in matching gifts. In 2021, more than 600 nonprofits from around the state are participating. The nonprofits are involved in a number of activities — from feeding the hungry, mentoring children, protecting the environment, and supporting the arts.

"Granite Staters showed up big for nonprofits in 2020 and we are inviting them to join us again," Kathleen Reardon, the CEO of the New Hampshire Center for Nonprofits, said. "Together, we can make a huge impact by showing our support for the nonprofit organizations that are enriching our lives and keeping our communities strong."

Last year, even in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, NH Gives broke its record and raised more than the previous four years combined. About 14,000 people donated $3.4 million to close to 500 nonprofits and charities. In the first eight minutes of the event in 2020, more than $1 million was donated.

"Nonprofits have been a real bright spot in our communities through an incredibly challenging time," Richard Ober, the president and CEO of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, said. "They did not falter when they were most needed. Nonprofits will be essential in helping rebuild — and in improving quality of life for everyone who calls New Hampshire home. New Hampshire Gives is a moment for us to come together as one community and show nonprofits that we are behind them."

In 2021, about $320,000 in matching funds will be made by the foundation and its donors; another $700,000 is being matched by other donors to specific nonprofits.

During the first 90 minutes of the 2021 effort, more than $1.5 million was raised.
