CONCORD, NH — City officials have called a parking ban for the entire city from Monday night to Tuesday morning due to a snowstorm heading to the state, according to an alert.

The "winter storm event parking ban" was issued so cars will not be in city streets during the evening and overnight hours, hampering snow removal efforts to keep roadways clear. The ban runs from 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

"The community’s cooperation to move cars off the street is appreciated to help plows more efficiently clear snow," the alert stated. "Cars not removed from the street can impede snow removal and block plows on narrow streets. Violators are subject to receiving a ticket and being towed by Concord police."

Penacook residents can park at the Canal Street Municipal Parking Lot at the corner of Village and Canal streets even though the lot is posted for no overnight parking. This regulation is suspended during city-wide parking bans.

Penacook residents using this lot should only park in the public spaces on the south side of the lot along Canal Street.
