Queen City Felon Faces Hooksett Firearm, Drug Charges: New Hampshire State Police Roundup

CONCORD, NH — A felon from Manchester with a lengthy criminal history is facing firearm charges in superior court eight months after an incident in Hooksett, according to court records.

Chesley W. Wohner, 53, of Myrtle Street in Manchester, was arrested at 8:15 p.m. on July 19, 2024, on felonious use of a firearm, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of methamphetamine charges.

Limited information is available about the case. State police accused him of possessing the drug and a Taurus 9 mm G2C handgun on Interstate 93 north in Hooksett.

About a week after being arrested, Wohner was released on personal recognizance. He was granted a public defender in August 2024 for the case.

Other cases then emerged: In late November 2024, he was charged with felony possession of a controlled drug and resisting arrest or detention charges after an incident in Manchester. And, in early December 2024, Wohner had another hearing on a drug transport charge and a lane control violation, according to court records. The drug and resisting charges were also boundover to Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

On March 8, the drug charge in the Manchester case was dismissed without prejudice. A month later, he was transported from the New Hampshire State Prison for Men for arraignment on the resisting charge. Wohner is due back in court on June 5.

On May 9, probable cause was found for the Hooksett charges, and they were boundover to Merrimack County Superior Court. After hearings on May 9 and May 12, a dispositional conference hearing was set for July 23.

According to superior court records, Wohner’s criminal history dates back approximately two decades, after being accused of felony drug possession in Goffstown in November 2004. He pleaded guilty to the charge in May 2006.

Wohner was charged with habitual offender, acts prohibited, falsifying physical evidence, resisting arrest or detention, and disobeying an officer after an incident in Manchester in July 2007. He was also accused of a probation violation.

He was charged again with acts prohibited, driving under the influence-second or third offense, and reckless operation charges after an incident in Manchester in August 2016. About a month later, he was charged with drug possession and resisting arrest in another Manchester case and three acts prohibited charges in Manchester a month after that. Between March and June 2017, he pleaded guilty to several of the charges and received fines of $1,922 and suspended sentences.

Wohner was arrested on three theft charges in Manchester in 2017 and pleaded guilty to the charges. He again received multiple suspended sentences and was ordered to pay about $90 to Rite Aid.

In October 2019, Wohner was charged again with drug possession after an incident in Manchester. The charge was dismissed in February 2020.

The state of New Hampshire filed a civil claim against Wohner in September 2020, concerning the forfeiture of $1,030. After continuances and Wohner failing to appear at an evidentiary hearing, the money was given to the state in September 2021.

In February 2021, he was charged with felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and two acts prohibited connected to another incident in Manchester the month before. In July of that year, he received a sentence of one and a half to three years as well as two sentences of three to eight years in state prison. Wohner was also given 165 days of time served credit.

Man Accused Of DUI, Driving 112 MPH On I-93

A man from Derry was arrested on May 10 after an incident on Interstate 93.

Around 10:15 p.m., a trooper running radar on the northbound side of the highway tagged a 2012 BMW 335i with a New Hampshire registration at 112 mph, according to radar and an affidavit. As the driver passed, they slowed down and moved into the middle lane, a trooper stated.

“I got behind the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop,” they wrote.

When they approached the vehicle, they saw an open container of Twisted Tea in the back seat and in the front passenger’s side cup holder. The driver, Steven Tylar Quade, 22, of Derry, “claimed the open containers were from other people who had been drinking in his car,” the report said.

The trooper asked Quade to exit the car for a field sobriety test and accused him of smelling of alcohol. He admitted to drinking earlier in the day and then, having four drinks between 6 p.m. and the time of the stop, the affidavit said. State police dispatch also noted Quade was a habitual offender, the report stated.

Quade was arrested and admitted he had been arrested recently and was out on bail, the trooper said. He was deemed a habitual offender after a hearing on March 10. Quade’s most recent conviction of revocation-subsequent was on Jan. 16.

Quade was charged with habitual offender, driving under the influence, driving after revocation or suspension-subsequent, driving after revocation or suspension, breach of bail, and reckless operation as well as an open container-alcohol or marijuana violation.
