Sanders Overtakes Clinton in New Hampshire

Bernie Sanders has surged past Hillary Clinton in a poll of New Hampshire residents.

Vermont Sen. and Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has overtaken Hillary Clinton in the polls in New Hampshire, according to published reports.

In a recent Franklin Pierce University/Boston Herald poll, Sanders leads Clinton, the longtime front-runner, 44 percent to 37 percent among likely Democratic voters. Sanders had trailed Clinton 44-8 as recently as March, according to a report from the Boston Herald.

The live interview phone poll was conducted between Aug. 7 and Aug 10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points, the report said.

Thirty-five percent of those polled said they are “excited” about Clinton and 51 percent said they could support her, but are less than enthusiastic about her campaign, the Boston Herald report said.

According to the Franklin Pierce University/Boston Herald poll, 80 percent of likely New Hampshire Democrats view Clinton as “favorable”, down from 84 percent in a poll conducted in March of this year. Additionally, those who view Clinton as “very favorable” dropped from 50 percent in March to 38 percent in August, according to the report from the Boston Herald.

Sanders, on the other hand, has been rocketing up the charts. In March, 56 percent of likely Democrats viewed Sanders favorably, of which 22 percent viewed him “very favorably”. According to the August report, more than half of likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire view him “very” favorably.
