Update: Man Dies, Woman Rescued During Penacook Fire Being Investigated By NH State Fire Marshal?s Office
A man died during a fire on Rhodora Court early Saturday morning; a woman, who was sleeping, was rescued by firefighters, officials say.

CONCORD, NH ? State and local fire officials and police are investigating a fatal fire in Penacook early Saturday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m., Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to Rhodora Court on a medical alert. When they arrived, they saw smoke coming from the front door of the home and began searching the building, according to the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal?s Office.
?During the search,? according to a statement, ?an adult female was found sleeping and rescued from the home without injury. An adult male was located deceased on a different floor of the home.?

No firefighters were injured during the incident.
State fire officials said there were no working smoke alarms on the floor of the home where the fire started. The American Red Cross is assisting the surviving victim.

On Monday morning, officials said Alexis Palmacci, 77, of Concord, died during the fire.
?Palmacci?s cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation, and the manner was accidental,?State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey said. ?The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.?
Toomey reminded residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes.
?Homeowners should ensure they have alarms installed and test them regularly to ensure they are working properly,? he said. ?In the event of an alarm activation or visible smoke or fire, residents should immediately exit their home and call 911.?
