Winter Storm Watch Alert Issued For Concord, Capital Region
Forecasters are calling for significant, heavy snow for parts of New Hampshire on Monday and Tuesday, with 5 to 6 inches possible.

CONCORD, NH — Forecasters are warning of a mid-February storm that will feature heavy snow, sleet, and ice, mostly in the central and northern parts of the state, with lighter amounts in other regions, too.
The National Weather Service issued an alert on Sunday warning about the storm, which will run from Monday night to Tuesday night and could bring up to 5 to 6 inches of snow to Concord and the capital region, while lower amounts are expected in the southern part of the state, and similar amounts expected up north.
"Low pressure will lift north and east from the Gulf of Mexico on Monday, passing over or just south of southern New England on Tuesday," the NWS alert said. "This will result in snow overspreading the region late Monday night and continuing through Tuesday before tapering off Tuesday evening."

The potential exists, forecasters stated, for sleet and freezing rain, too, mixing with the snow on Tuesday over portions of the area, the alert said.

"Travel could be very difficult due to low visibility and snow-covered roads," forecasters said. "The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes."
The map published by the NWS on Sunday showed 1 to 5 inches in Concord and up to 4 inches in most other Patch communities in the state. Four to 8 or 9 inches is expected in the Lakes Region north.
However, AccuWeather.com says the snowfall might be higher in some parts of New Hampshire. Their forecasters are suggesting 6 to 12 inches of snow from Concord and northern communities while south of Concord, there will be 3 to 6 or 1 to 3 inches.
Patch will update weather information on Monday.
