10,000th COVID-19 Vaccine Dose at Southern Ocean Medical Center

Manahawkin, March 16, 2021… Retired dental hygienist Judy Rapoza from Barnegat, NJ, received the milestone 10,000 COVID-19 vaccine dose on Friday, March 12 at Hackensack Meridian Southern Ocean Medical Center’s Vaccination Center located at 1173 Beacon Avenue in Manahawkin.
Judith’s husband, Tom, accompanied her during the scheduled appointment, where both received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. “This is a happy day for both of us,” said Judy. “Being vaccinated makes us feel safe and secure and opens up the possibilities of socializing with family and friends once again.” Judy and Tom are scheduled to get their second dose of the vaccination in April.
The following week, Southern Ocean Medical Center marked the one-year anniversary of treating its first COVID-19 patient on Wednesday, March 17.

Hackensack Meridian began administering COVID-19 vaccines in December 2020, starting with frontline team members. The network is delivering 5,000 to 6,000 vaccine doses daily at medical centers and other sites throughout New Jersey, including the mega site in Bergen County. New Jersey has lost more than 20,000 people to COVID-19. More than one-half million people in the United States have lost their lives to the virus.
