Possible Tornadoes In South Jersey? Experts Investigate
Meteorologists will investigate three New Jersey towns on Friday to determine whether any tornadoes touched down during Tropical Storm Elsa.
LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — Meteorologists from the National Weather Service will investigate three towns in southern New Jersey on Friday to determine whether any tornadoes touched down during Tropical Storm Elsa.
The preliminary storm survey will study areas of damage in Little Egg Harbor Township in Ocean County, Somers Point in Atlantic County and Woodbine in Cape May County.
Results of the survey are expected to be released Friday night, the weather service said.

Tornado warnings were issued early Friday morning in parts of Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean and Monmouth counties.
A 78 mph wind gust was recorded overnight near Sea Isle City and a 71 mph gust was recorded in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical storm warnings were canceled Friday morning, but severe thunderstorms and winds are possible later today, forecasters say.

In the wake of Elsa there will be the potential for severe storms this afternoon ahead of a cold front. The threat will be focused over the southwestern half of the area, with strong winds the primary threat.
