Adoptions Half Off Aug. 17 At Manahawkin Animal Shelter

The Ocean County Animal Facilities are participating in the "Clear the Shelters" national adoption event.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Providing a fur buddy with a forever home will get a bit easier. The Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter will cut adoption fees in half from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 17.

The Ocean County Animal Facilities in Manahawkin and Jackson will both participate in the fifth-annual "Clear the Shelters" national adoption event. Every dog and cat adopted receives a veterinary exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. Everyone who adopts a pet will also receive a goodie bag with treats and toys.

“We have a large variety of kittens and cats that are just adorable. Our dogs come in a variety of breeds, sizes and ages," said Ocean County Health Department Public Information Officer Brian Lippai. "The Ocean County Health Department encourages responsible pet ownership and we like to discourage people from buying from puppy mills. There's nothing quite like a shelter pet."
