Alice Harrison Of Barnegat Dies At 87

Alice Harrison of Barnegat, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2018, just one week shy of her 88th birthday.

Like so many remarkable women of her generation, born and raised in the Depression era of the 1930s, sobered by living through World War II, she became the thoroughly modern woman of the 20th century. She juggled both a career in consumer finance in banking and the Ethan Allen Stores and quietly went about the business of raising and supporting a family.

She carried that example and legacy into the 21st century.

She has been the matriarch for her three children, John, 70, of Freehold, Valerie Horn, 68, of Irvine, California and Nancy Bray, 64, of Barnegat. She has also left a legacy for her six grandchildren, all of whom will have a smile on their face when they think of her.

To date, there are six great grandchildren who will not have had the pleasure of personally knowing her. But they will KNOW of her as their lives progress. That will be to their favor.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 with a 2 p.m. Blessing Service to follow at the Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West. Bay Ave., Barnegat, NJ. (www.BarnegatFH.com)
