Another Blast Of Winter Air – And Possible Snow – On Way To NJ

This time, winter weather may really hit New Jersey. Here's where.

NEW JERSEY — Temperatures will once again drop 20 to 30 degrees in New Jersey this week as a strong cold front approaches the region, the National Weather Service says. And, once again, there's a chance for snow, and even some accumulation.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens while snow may impact New Jersey in scattered amounts throughout the day on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of the snow may impact North Jersey in the form of a wintry mix, leaving no more than an inch. Most of that is expected to happen after 8 p.m. on Tuesday (see below).

Rain is expected to impact all of New Jersey beginning Tuesday night, and it could possibly extend into Wednesday morning and impact the commute.

The worst of the winter weather is expected to arrive in the form of cold weather, which is expected to drop to as low as 19 degrees on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

With the rain, snow and sleet, that could cause a lot of black ice on New Jersey roads on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Here is the forecast:

  • Veterans Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph.
  • Monday night: A slight chance of showers between 3am and 4am, then a chance of rain after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. South wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday: Rain before 11am, then rain and snow between 11am and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. Temperature falling to around 34 by 5pm. West wind 10 to 16 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.
  • Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. Northwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
