Barnegat-Area COVID Update: MVC Reopens, No New Deaths Reported

BARNEGAT, NJ — Here are the latest coronavirus updates regarding Barnegat and Manahawkin.

Cases

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 472 coronavirus cases and 29 deaths as of Wednesday afternoon. That's an increase of 26 cases and no new deaths since Barnegat-Manahawkin Patch's last update Oct. 26.

The OCHD has tallied 381 cases and 12 deaths in Barnegat as of Wednesday morning — an increase of 12 cases and no new deaths since Oct. 26.

Officials reported 53 new cases Monday in Ocean County, bringing the area to 17,079 cases and 1,007 deaths since the pandemic began.

Recent Updates

• The Motor Vehicle Commission center in Manahawkin reopened Monday. The facility closed for about two weeks after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus. All MVCs are closed for Election Day, but Manahawkin's will reopen Wednesday on its new appointment-only basis.
