Barnegat Dessert Establishment Candiqueen's Closes

BARNEGAT, NJ — It's a bittersweet ending for the sweets eatery. Candiqueen's in Barnegat has closed permanently after serving Barnegat since 2014.

Ownership made the announcement Wednesday on the Candiqueen's Facebook page.

"I would like to thank first ,ALL of the employees we’ve had over the past six years," Gwyn and George wrote. "We couldn’t have done it without each of you.And secondly, our loyal customers. You have all made an impact on our lives. Some of you have even become friends. I will cherish that friendship forever."

Candiqueen's delicacies included its ice cream, chocolate and baked goods, as well as Italian ice and hard yogurt. The shop was located at 237 S. Main St.

Plenty of customers shared fond memories on the Facebook post announcing the closure.

"Thanks for giving my kimmy her 1st job, a taste of the real world and the paycheck didn’t hurt either," one customer said. "I wish you and George a beautiful future(whatever that may be)!!! And now where in the world can we find cheesecake Icecream with caramel in it."

"Wishing you the best, but we’ll miss you and the delicious ice cream, and the friendly servers," said another.
