Barnegat Police Chief Achieves Leadership Role In NJ Association
Barnegat Police Chief Keith A. Germain has been elected 4th Vice President of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Police Chief Keith A. Germain has been elected 4th Vice President of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP).
The NJSACOP works to improve and enhance the ethical standards among the state’s law enforcement agencies.
“It’s an honor to accept this significant leadership role in our Chiefs of Police Association. I am eager to continue working with NJSACOP’s executive board and professional team as we position our Association as a national leader on innovative and progressive law enforcement practices,” Germain said in a news release.

Hired as a dispatcher 27 years ago, Germain worked his way up through his police department’s ranks to become Chief of Police in 2018. He is credited with bringing vital changes to the Barnegat Township Police Department, making it one of the state’s most progressive, well-respected law enforcement agencies, according to the news release.
Germain’s one-year term as 4th Vice President begins July 1 as Sayreville Police Chief John Zebrowski becomes NJSACOP’s new president.

Stafford Police Chief Thomas Dellane will become Vice President as Spring Lake Chief Edward M. Kerr, Jr., takes over as 2nd Vice President and Rutherford Chief John R. Russo moves up as 3rd Vice President.
“My initial focus is to do my best work; to contribute my effort and energy to support our incoming president and the experienced members of our executive board,” German said.
Germain previously chaired NJSACOP’s public relations committee. A graduate of the 278th Session of the FBI National Academy, Germain holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Thomas Edison State University.
He is co-founder and executive vice president of the Critical Response Group, that private firm works with an elite team of US Military Special Operations and law enforcement professionals to improve public safety responses to critical incidents and mass-casualty events.
Germain has been an invited public speaker and instructor on the topics of emergency management, firefighting services, and law enforcement at local, state, and national conferences and symposiums including events at Princeton University, the NJ Excellence in Policing Conference, the International Association of Fire Chiefs Wildland Urban Interface Conference and the Congressional Fire Services Caucus in Washington, D.C.
