Driver Falls Asleep At Wheel, Knocks Down Pole In Manahawkin: PD

Officials closed the road for several hours because of damage and wires down.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A vehicle crashed into a utility pole Monday after the driver fell asleep at the wheel, police said.

The accident took place at 3:15 p.m. on Lighthouse Drive near Barnacle Drive. The driver of a 2014 Ford F-150 traveled south while approaching a left curve in the road, police said.

He fell asleep, and his vehicle left the road and hit a pole, police said. Officials closed the street for several hours because of damage and wires down.
