Heat Advisory Issued In Barnegat Area For Wednesday

BARNEGAT, NJ — A heat advisory will take effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Barnegat area, the National Weather Service announced. The heat advisory includes several areas of New Jersey, including parts of Ocean County.

During a heat advisory, the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible, the NWS says. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check relatives and neighbors, the organization advises.

When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

The temperature in Barnegat is listed at a high of 92 degrees with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., according to the NWS.
