MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Forecasts don't call for Hurricane Dorian to severely impact the Manahawkin area, but here's what to expect.
The National Weather Service expects the storm to pass through the area Friday. Expect gusts up to 39 mph on Friday, the NWS says.
There's a low probability that the winds will reach tropical-storm speeds, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

LBI and the surrounding area aren't under a flood advisory as of Thursday afternoon. But be ready to move vehicles from streets that typically experience flooding. High tide in LBI projected for 3:50 p.m. Friday (2.53 feet) and 4:16 a.m. Saturday (2.07 feet).
A high surf advisory is in effect for 2 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday. The NWS recommends the following:

"Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help."
The Ocean County Sheriff's Office said people should not enter the ocean this weekend.
