LBI To Hold New Sandcastle Building Contest On Sept. 21

SHIP BOTTOM, NJ — It will be fall, but that shouldn't stop you from building a sandcastle masterpiece. Long Beach Island's first "Sand Castle Bash" takes place Sept. 21 in Ship Bottom (9th Street).

Professional sandcastle builder Ian Deibert will attend and develop a new creation.

Age categories include 7 and under, 8-14, 15+, and family. Prizes will include Fantasy Island gift cards and a Jetty gift certificate. The family category will offer a two-night stay at the Drifting Sands Hotel as the grand prize.

The schedule includes the following:

• 9-10 a.m.: registration
• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: building competition
• 1-1:30 p.m.: judging
• 1:30-2 p.m.: announcement of winners

WJRZ will host games with prizes and play music throughout the day.
