LBI's Dog Day Road Race Arrives In August: How To Register

The 5-mile run/walk event takes place Sunday, Aug. 18 in Harvey Cedars.

HARVEY CEDARS — With the sweltering heat, it's as good a day as any to get ready for the Dog Day Road Race. This year's 5-mile race takes place Aug. 18 at 10 West 80th St., Harvey Cedars.

Proceeds benefit the High Point Volunteer Fire Company, ensuring proper equipment, training and protection for the community and volunteers. Click here to sign up or donate.

Registration for the 5-mile run/walk ends at 11:59 p.m. Aug. 16. The first 1,000 runners get a t-shirt. The first three male and female finishers overall will earn cash prizes.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.

Jake Shoemaker, 28, of Harvey Cedars, finished with the fastest time last year with 25:15.24, a mile pace of 5:03.
