BARNEGAT, NJ — Luigi’s Ristorante in Barnegat temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, the restaurant announced Thursday.
An employee on their prep staff, who did not have any contact with customers, tested positive for COVID-19, according to the restaurant.
“We want to open up as soon as possible but of course the health and safety of our employees and loyal customers is first,” Luigi’s Ristorante said on Facebook.

The restaurant closed for professional sanitization and to allow time for all employees to get tested for COVID-19.
The Ocean County Health Department has reported 1,502 total coronavirus cases and 47 deaths in Barnegat as of Thursday.
