A fire erupted in a Little Egg Harbor apartment building on Thursday afternoon, damaging the building and leaving several families homeless.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — A fire tore through a Little Egg Harbor apartment building on Thursday afternoon, damaging the building and leaving several families homeless.
Township firefighters, police and EMS responded to the Royal Timbers apartment complex on Wild Oaks Court around 3 p.m. for a report of a structure fire in building 11, Little Egg Harbor police said.
When officers arrived, they immediately began to evacuate residents and redirect traffic.

Several fire departments, including agencies from Ship Bottom, Harvey Cedars and Beach Haven helped extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported among residents, though a police officer cut his hand, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, police said.
Crazy Shakes is collecting “items of any kind” for the apartment building’s displaced residents. The business is located at 984 Radio Rd in Little Egg Harbor.
