More Than 8K Barnegat Homes Lose Power In Outage

Jersey Central Power & Light expects power to be restored for Barnegat customers at 4 p.m. Monday.

BARNEGAT, NJ — A power outage in Barnegat was affecting more than 8,000 customers this afternoon, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

About 99 percent of JCP&L's customers in Barnegat — 8,472 of 8,477 total customers — were without power as of 2:30 p.m.

Crews expect power to be restored at 4 p.m. Monday.

Lacey police announced that the outage was caused by a downed wire.
