2 Die In Garden State Parkway Crash In Barnegat Area: Officials

BARNEGAT – Law enforcement officials said a crash that closed a portion of the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County on New Year's Day killed two people, officials said. The roadway was reopened as of 4:30 p.m.
State Police told Patch that two people died in the crash, and one of the drivers was traveling south on the northbound side.

The Ocean County Sheriff's Office reported at 8:30 a.m. that the northbound side of the highway was closed at mile marker 68.1.
State Police also reported that the 7:45 a.m. serious crash involved two vehicles.

Authorities told the public to avoid the area of mile marker 69 on the northbound side.
