Ship Bottom Christmas Parade Canceled Due To Coronavirus

The LBI tradition won't happen this year, but organizers said to watch for information on a virtual event.

SHIP BOTTOM, NJ — A Long Beach Island tradition won't happen this year. The Ship Bottom Christmas Parade was canceled because of recent coronavirus restrictions.

The annual event occurs in the first weekend of December. Organizers said to watch out for information about a virtual event.

The Christmas Parade Committee originally planned the 41st annual event with coronavirus guidelines in mind. They asked everyone to practice social distancing along the parade route.

But Gov. Phil Murphy tightened restrictions Monday, which included limiting outdoor gatherings from 500 to 150 people.
