Southern Regional Runner Among Top 30 At Nike National's

Jackson Braddock placed high in the Oregon race, which featured 200 of the nation's best boys' cross country runners.

PORTLAND, OR — Even among the best in the nation, Jackson Braddock stood out. The Southern Regional High School student placed 29th Saturday at the Nike Cross Nationals Boys' Championship Race.

Braddock ran the 5-kilometer race with a time of 15:37.7, which also put him third among juniors. The field consisted of 203 runners.

The junior had to get through elite competition to make the national meet. Nike Cross Nationals consists is comprised of the top runners in eight regional qualifying meets.

Braddock qualified after placing fifth Nov. 30 at the Nike Northeast Regional Meet at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, New York. Braddock improved his standing among northeast runners at national's, finishing third among them.

Earlier this season, Braddock won the Shore Conference, South Jersey and state Group IV championships.
