​Southern Regional To Serve As Public COVID-19 Vaccine Site

Southern Regional Middle School will become Ocean County's second public COVID-19 vaccination site on Tuesday evening.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Southern Regional Middle School will become Ocean County's second public COVID-19 vaccination site on Tuesday.

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners announced the addition of the new site Wednesday evening to expand its COVID-19 vaccination program.

The Southern Regional Middle School site will be open part-time beginning Jan. 19 to assist the County's main vaccination site at the RWJ Barnabus Arena in Toms River.

The state Health Department says 16,679 vaccine doses have been administered in Ocean County as of Friday afternoon. Ocean County has an estimated population of 607,186 and the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines each require two doses per person.

The Ocean County Health Department said COVID-19 vaccination appointments are temporarily full as of Friday at noon and have reminded people to check for availability regularly at OCHD.org.
