MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Wintry weather continues in the Manahawkin area as a storm brought a mix of sleet, freezing rain and ice on Thursday.

Stafford Township reminds residents that vehicles, trash cans and basketball hoops must be removed from roadways for snow plows to get through.

Little Egg Harbor police have alerted people about icy roads and encouraged residents to avoid driving.

Snow Totals

Just under one inch of snow was recorded in Manahawkin as of Thursday afternoon, according to National Weather Service totals.

Closures

The storm caused closures throughout the area on Thursday. The Stafford and Barnegat Township School Districts held remote learning days.

Several local businesses took a snow day or closed early.

Here's the forecast in Manahawkin as of Thursday afternoon:

  • Thursday night: Rain, mainly before 1am. Low around 31. Northeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Friday: Rain before 5pm, then a chance of rain, snow, and sleet. High near 38. North wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected.
  • Friday night: A chance of rain, snow, and sleet before 10pm, then a slight chance of snow between 10pm and 1am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation expected.
